THE KITE RUNNER

Inlägget är en recension på boken The Kite Runner till en engelska redovisning.

I have read the book The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
The book is about a very capturing story of two boys, living in Kabul when it hasn't yet been taken over by the talibans. These two boys, Amir and Hassan, have a very complicated relationship. They have lived and been raised together, they have breastfeed from the same chest, and played together their whole life. They are almost like brothers. Except for the little fact that Hassan is actually the families servants son, and a Hazara. Hassan is a small boy with a harelip who always protects Amir, he lives to serve him, literally. He would never let Amir down, and even when his own life's at stake he doesn't.
But Amir didn't requite the loyalty to his friend. He stood up his best friend when he obviously needed him the most. A mistake he would have to live with the rest of his life, but maybe he will get a chance to return it, but not before after a long time.

Khaled Hosseini is a famous american-afghan writer who's is living in the USA. He's first and most famous book is The Kite Runner but he has also written the well known book A Thousand Splendid Suns.

Own thoughts: Having seen the movie before reading the book, I actually don't think it's very different from it. The book is just more about the details, and of course, they describe the feelings in the book more precisely so it's easier to understand how the protagonists feel. There's only a few changes, but nothing that irritates you.
It's a very touching book I think, and it's good! But I would probably have been satisfied with having just seen the movie if I would have known how similar the book is to the movie...
